Jin Shin Jyutsu , Physio-philosophy is an ancient art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. It means the “Art of the Creator through Compassionate Man”. Born of innate wisdom and passed down by word of mouth, The Art was dramatically revived in the early 1900’s by Master Jiro Murai in Japan who made the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu his life’s work. Mary Burmeister brought it to the United States in the 1950’s. Through Mary’s teachings there are thousands of students worldwide.

Although it is often grouped under the genre acupressure, this gentle Art does not involve pressure, massage or manipulation of muscles. Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six “safety energy locks” along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies to restore energy flow. It is practiced by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated areas. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body and spirit. It is a compliment to western medicine and has been used in preventing illness and restoring health imbalances. It is dynamic in restoring emotional imbalance. JSJ induces a deep sense of well-being and relaxation, relieving tension and stress that accumulates through daily living. Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied as Self-Help. Through the JSJ Self-Help, “Now Know Myself”, we learn to interpret the body and place our hands on the body to restore balance.

How can Jin Shin Jyutsu help you?
JSJ is a gentle and but very powerful way of helping the body to help itself. It is effective for the treatment of all medical conditions as a complimentary therapy by keeping the body healthy and happy.

Practicing JSJ self help will engrain the philosophy of living effortlessly, just being. Jin Shin Jyutsu engages 26 ‘safety energy locks’ along a network of energy pathways that nourish life within the body. Blocked energy locks cause disharmony ranging from a simple headache to projects such as cancer. I have had great results working with adults and children with various problems and projects such as sinus disorders, high/low blood pressure, back problems, migraines, stomach disorders, neck, jaw, whiplash, irregular menstrual cycles, autism, ear infections, depression, behavioral disorders, broken bones, pre and post surgery, MS, circulation problems, pre- post natal, support of fertility treatments, Parkinson’s, senility, panic attack and stress. For people without ailment, receiving regular sessions keeps mind in harmony releasing the ‘stuck’ behavior patterns and releasing tensions which helps to prevent illness.


What can I expect at a session?
Jin Shin Jyutsu does not involve massage, manipulation of bones or muscles. It is best to receive JSJ on an empty stomach. I would ask you to remove your wrist watch and belt.

You will lie face up on the massage table fully clothed. After observing the body I will listen to the pulse at the wrist. My fingertips are then placed over clothing in specific combinations. This is called jumper cabling. As energy shifts, you may find yourself drifting off to sleep. When finished you will have time to rest. Allow 1- 1 1/2 hrs. for the treatment. Some children may require less time. You may be given ‘self help’ to practice at home which will compliment your session.

Initial treatment requires 3 sessions within a week if possible. It is important to do this to affect a change. Further treatment may be required depending on the project. You will definitely see an improvement in your condition as you continue harmonizing.

Wrap fingers around thumb and hold for worry, fatigue, breathing, and digestive discomforts; index finger for releasing fear, backache, wrist, elbow discomforts, middle finger harmonizes anger, eye and general fatigue, ring finger harmonizes, grief, breathing and ear discomforts, little finger, harmonizes “trying to do”, aids in calming nerves and bloat.

Holding each finger on your flight aids jet lag and can help you go to sleep.

Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio Philosophy

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese healing art of energy balancing. It helps the body to release tension and return to a relaxed physical, mental and spiritual state. JSJ can balance and restore life force (ki) or (chi) energy.
According to the record of ancient things —The Kojiki, written in 712 AD, contains the earliest written record of JSJ. Jin Shin Jyutsu literally translated means ‘The Art of the Creator through Compassionate Man’. Through the studies and dedication of philosopher and teacher Master Jiro Muari, the art was revived and this precious gift was brought to the west by his student, Mary Burmeister in the 1950’s.
