Don Bosco | Vision | Centres | About Us | Postcards | Street Children Projects

The street children project is a personal effort of a group of young professionals in Singapore, working together with the Salesians of Don Bosco, Trivandrum, in the care, protection, development and rehabilitation of street children, child labourers, slum children and youth in difficult and special circumstances.

To prevent children from the slum area dropping out from school and become wanderers on the street, the project also extends its efforts in the educational and development work to the slum and the poor of the neighbourhood.

The project strives to create awareness and raise social consciousness among the young in Singapore about the less privileged children in Singapore and around Asia. Sessions with Kids serve as a platform for children to voice their concerns and thoughts about social issues. It also aims to empower them to help others.

Session with Kids (Dec 2003) produced a series of postcards where children participants did the artworks. All proceeds from the sale of the postcards and original pieces go towards the street children project in Trivandrum.

Private fundraising activities for family and friends are held before each visit to Don Bosco, Trivandrum. All funds collected go toward the street children project in Trivandrum. Such events also provide opportunities for children and adults to participate in baking, and selling of various items, where all proceeds are for the street children's fund.
